The Square of Four
March 18, 2021Read time 1 minAs I began to write this I looked up and over head flew four geese, the topic of this video is the number 4. What is the number 4? As a word it's four, as a number we recognize it as IV or 4. We know the 4 Cardinal directions North, South, East, West, the 4 Winds, the 4 seasons, 4 corners make a square, 4 Elements. Four to me seems like a solid number, a strong foundation, security. You can see it as 2+2, I tend to see it as 3+1=4. The triune plus one equals completion. 1 unit, a square, Unity, New beginnings and Harmony, a Peace and Gracefully accepting of the good things that enter into life.
The recording time pre-upload was 3:37, 3+3+7=13, 1+3= 4
If you read this thank you for sharing your time with me.

My Own Walden Pond
March 16, 2021Read time: 1 MinLiving my life in the natural, spending time in nature. Has grown within a new understanding in life, I marvel at and in all the tiny mechanisms of life in nature. I find a peace and a solace in my own piece of Heaven on Earth.
As I listen through this book I find myself unintentionally recreating scenes from the book as I walk through the woods. It's as if at that moment I am living the book, my ste, my sight capturing the essence of Walden Pond.

Philosophy of Plato

Read time: 1 MinLecture by Dr. George Brooks - Published Jan 28, 2016
I stumbled across this lecture series by delving into a better understanding of the number 3 and the number 7. Which led me to Pythagoras and the Pythagorean theory, which led to this video on the Philosophy of Plato. I know nothing about this instructor other that I would most definitely take his class. I thoroughly enjoyed his style of teaching; it's engaging, insightful, and ultimately fun, Kudos to you Mr. Brooks. Watch part 2 of the lecture on his YouTube Channel.
Nature Like Our Life Changes Seasons
March 1, 2021
Read time: 2 minutesGreetings Joey here with Valiant Liege coming at you from a beautiful Monday morning. Great walk today very insightful day. I have a journal page of insight and Wisdom, that will allow me to grow. In order to grow we must be in a continual effort to be an Individual, public opinion is the great compromiser. One decision is more important to one's character than 100 compromises. As I walked this morning and the snow began to melt, it made me think of how different my walks will soon become. Winter who I had become accustomed to make ways for Spring, brining with it New Experiences, Opportunities and Challenges.
I thoroughly have enjoyed my winter treks in the cold, frozen, and wet winter, it has pushed me beyond bounds I had yet to meet. It felt as if a badge of honor was earned every morning I stepped out into the frigid cold air and negative Fahrenheit degrees. At first it started off as me against nature but has turned into becoming one with it. Growing, adapting, and learning what my mind and body are capable of doing in sub freezing temperatures.
I've had some first time experiences along this winter journey that I will surely hold on to. They were personal achievements and actions that have brought me strength, courage and a boldness of heart. I'm looking forward spring, but will continue to enjoy every moment I am given to be in the now.
I had an encounter with a very talkative Crow today as I was in the presence of Temperance. It crowed and seemed to be there almost as to witness Temperance itself, it flew over head a few times. It remained near by as I enjoyed my moment of tranquility and realization of the gift of Temperance. I stood near the partially frozen pond and listened intently to the water moving underneath the thin sheet of ice. It had such a peaceful sound of gentle running water as if Temperance itself. It brought forth the vision of a samurai in meditation near a babbling brook, the warrior finding his inner peace amongst the peace of nature.

The Gift of Journaling
February 23, 2021Read time: 1 minute(This video is from yesterday, didn't get a chance to upload.)
The art of journaling has become a focal point in my life. In my journal is where I record all the gifts of Wisdom I receive. If possible I try to record them and my thoughts daily, I really enjoy it. They serve as friendly reminders and landmarks in my life reflecting my growth as a man and son of the most high. As much as I love my journals I've come to realize it's not the words on paper, but my actions that will tell my life story. Either way journaling has become a wonderful outlet for me. I hope you find it as insightful as I have.
I'll post a link to the Manly P. Hall lecture. Cheers!

Life Comes From Death
February 11, 2021Came upon a dead eaten carcass, the remains looked that of a squirrel. Which I am presumming was a meal for a coyote. I have seen them in the woods while on my trek. I came upon it as I was heading to the path that leads home. I was deep in contemplation of some thoughts and seeing the remains brought the thought and the understanding that LIFE comes from DEATH. DEATH gives LIFE. Death is not something to be feared or be scared of it is all part of the cycle of life. The squirrels life came to an end so the coyote or whoever ate it could have LIFE. It was a deep moment and one of gratitude for coming across this in nature and gleaning from it the wisdom that it shared. Anyways I hope this finds whoever reads this well and this makes you ponder a bit.
Cheers,

Joey here with Valiant Liege bringing you a part 2. Beautiful day today as of the time of recording it was 12 degrees Fahrenheit, the sun was shining and it felt so good it was hard to believe the temp was what it was. It has since then warmed up to 35 degrees, is it spring?! Ha!
Really good flow today I don't have anything planned during my stretches I just let my body direct me as to where and what I need to stretch. If you can follow along great, I've really enjoyed sharing my morning with who ever watches.
I have attached a link to the book. Also correction the audio reading of the book is by Vox Stoica, I am clarifying my statement in the beginning of the video. The author is Miyamoto Musashi.

The Book of 5 Rings, Pt.1
February 2, 2021Hey All! Joey here from Valiant Liege coming at you from a beautiful Sunny Day the temp at the time of recording was 22 degrees Fahrenheit. As I type this a good two hours later it has dropped to 18 degrees and has become gray and overcast. Anyway I am grateful for this mornings activities. I'm feeling refreshed, I almost considered skipping my morning walk today but as usual I am glad I pushed myself out there. I don't know about you but I always feel better after doing something I had to push myself to do.
I broke my fast with a very hearty breakfast, (I love intermittent fasting). If you are on some sort of diet then this breakfast may not be for you, modify as necessary. I made a fried egg sandwich on a delicious onion roll with LandOLakes Hot Pepper Cheese, this cheese is FIRE! I made some fresh Guac, I keep it simple Avocado, Lime, Salt and Pepper. If I'm feeling spicy I'll throw some garlic and jalapeno in there. Today I topped the guac on with some jalapeno slices and Siracha, after spreading it on the bread. Oh yeah did I forget to mention there was a hot link, sliced long ways and seared on a pan that went on the sandwich. Take out the onion roll and you basically have yourself a keto meal.
With that I leave you, talk to you next post.

Hey guys Joey here, coming at you from a very snowy day in my neck of the woods. I hope you enjoy this second installment of this Lecture by Manly P. Hall on the venerable William Penn. As I type this I can feel the physical exertion that was put in this morning. I should definitely invest in some snowshoes, I crossed a frozen pond covered in snow to get to my destination. It was fun and raised adrenaline a bit, I felt like a legit adventuring documenter. The lecture itself is over an hour long, but I feel like smaller segments may be easier to listen to. Hey everyone! Joey here with Valiant Liege, I'm very excited that this video finally posted. I was out on my trek on a beautiful winter day, when the inspiration to just film the clouds effortlessly rolled by in the sky. I happened to be listening to this lecture by Manly P. Enjoy this installment I plan to put out a second one in due time.
Long Term Wealth Through Passive Income
by Brian Vasquez
January 22, 2021
Read Time: 2 minutes
Ever had a dream of making money? Of course. Have you ever woken up knowing you’re wealthier than the day prior? Most probably haven’t. But there is a way to make money while you sleep.
Real Estate Investing is NOT a “get rich quick plan”… however, it IS a plan to building long term wealth over time. Let me explain…
Buying, holding & renting real estate can earn you “passive income”. Passive income is defined as “regular earnings from a source other than an employer in which a person is not actively involved”. An income stream without being actively involved?! Sounds good to me.
The long term benefit of buying & renting a property is that someone else (your tenant) is paying down your mortgage each month. Over time, the property will be paid off. At any point, you can then sell this property and keep the cash without ever having to make a single monthly payment towards it (besides your original down payment to buy the property). In the short term, there’s a long list of tax write offs as well as monthly cash flow (if you’re renting it for more than your monthly mortgage).
Every time your tenant pays rent, YOU build wealth. As an example: Your monthly mortgage is $1,000. You rent this property for $1,500. You make $500/month in addition to the $1,000 that pays down your mortgage loan, the tax write offs & the property appreciating. If you rent this property for $1,500, your getting paid $50/night for someone to live there.
Ever woken up more wealthier than the day prior? In the above example, you have. $50 wealthier every day of your life. It’s time to make money while you sleep…

Steel Cut Oats
JANUARY 20, 2021
Read Time: 2 Mins
This morning after coming in from my morning trek, I had a bowl of warm steel cut oats waiting for me. My wife had text me earlier while I was out on the trail asking if I would like some, today I accepted. I'm sure glad that I did because I made a delicious bowl of oats that I look forward to making again on a cold winter morning or any morning for that matter. Here is my recipe for the oats I made, please feel free to adapt to your taste buds.
First cook yourself some oats, my wife made about 1/3 of a cup of Quaker oats steele cut, but you can use any brand you like. I've come to enjoy the texture of the steel cut oats, compared to regular oats.
In my bowl I mixed all these ingredients
2 Shakes of Vulcan Fire Salt by The Spice House
1/2 Teaspoon of Butter
1 Teaspoon of Maple Syrup (real stuff)
1 Handful of Fresh Organic Blueberry's
Top with some walnuts for crunch, you can also go sans walnuts if you have a nut allergy.
Pretty easy and delicious, Enjoy!

What Happened To Uniqueness?
January 15, 2021
Read time: 2 minutesJoey here with Valiant Liege hope this finds you well. Just a few quick thoughts on the wonderment of the crystallization of snow flakes and like humans no snowflake is the same. In the last couple of years I've felt like the texture of snow has gotten different. It seems to be almost gritty and artificial looking. I search for the uniqueness of snowflakes, like humans but struggle to find it. I've always thought of being unique as a gift, an ability to stand on ones own away from the crowd. Is humanity becoming more automaton and loosing its "Uniqueness"? I pose that question what are your thoughts? Leave your thoughts in the comments I'm curious to hear what you have to say. I'm an eternal optimist and I believe uniqueness still permeates through humanity, we just have to search a bit harder to find it. Like a diamond in the rough it is there waiting to be picked and polished.
Also I share my latest acquisition, Compression Socks! They are what I like to call game changers. I'm on my feet a lot throughout the day, anywhere from 8-12 hours. I get 8 solid hours of my feet when I am sleeping, but once I'm up the mileage starts moving. I'm curious as to how many miles I've walked in my entire life, that would be a fun fact. The wife got these for me, I'll leave a link.

Love Thy Neighbor
January 12, 2021
Read time: 2 minutesJoey here with Valiant Liege, great start to the morning here. The Sun is shinning, I got my trek in today, and I helped out a neighbor. Who in kind helped me out last week when my car's battery was dead. His car battery crapped out last night, and I was able to get his car jumped this morning. I had this really awesome portable car battery charger, that I borrowed from my father in law. The device worked great, I'll put a link in the description. That device can be a life saver for sure! Anyways, as I was on my walk and reflected on the moring, I came to realize that helping others out of the kindness of ones heart is the way to be because it does wonders for the human soul. It not only helps me grow as a man, but it helps build community, trust, and confidence with my neighbors. In the past I've been guilty of not always helping others because of the inconvenience or out of obligation. Yet every time I'm done helping I feel great and eager to help some more. I get a feeling of accomplishment through unity on a job well done, and a feeling of gratefulness. Externally I helped move or lift something for someone, internally I built character and the want to be more helpful. In this time I think its now more than ever the time to be loving to thy neighbors/strangers, and doing on to others as you would want done to you. Slowing down my life and my thoughts has really allowed me to appreciate these moments and be grateful. I haven't always been the best when it comes to helps or the first to raise his hand to help, but now I'm learning to do so and enjoying the process.
As I finished off my walk at the tail end I must go over a bridge that leads to the path towards my home. I took a second to stood on the bridge at it's center over looking the frozen pond that lay before me. I heard them before I saw them, it was a formation of about 12 geese flying west about 100 yards out. While in sight I saw them adjust flight course and turn south, at that moment I thought "they are going to fly over my head." Sure enough the flying V came towards my direction and not 30 feet above me flew directly over me and disappeared over the tree line and into the rays of the sun, I lost them in the brightness. At that moment all I could think of was thank you..

What Are Your Treasures?
January 9, 2021
Read time: 1 MinuteJoey here from Valiant Liege to day I discuss a morning realization about what my treasures are. Me writing this right now is a treasure a treasure in itself. The treasure that I have can not be numbered monetarily. The price is invaluable because of it's worth, and it made me feel really grateful. Add that some sun and blue skies and it's the recipe for a great Saturday morning start. I'm currently sitting on the broken branch of an immense tree looking up into the distance of a frozen terrain. Grateful for the peace it brings.

Men's Grooming
January 5, 2021
Read time: 2 Minutes
Men's Grooming has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 5 years. We have seen an emphasis on men's barbering with inspiration coming from Peaky Blinders, Fury, to the Rockabilly scene. From pompadours, to slick backed under cuts to a resurrection of the mullet. I would fall in the latter category having rocked the modern mullet since 2019, might be time to switch it up. We have seen the rise of the beard, from the caveman beard with it's bits of food still in it. To the well kept beards moisturized with balms and essential oils, even mustache wax for the dandies. Hopefully you fall into the somewhat kept category and occasional line up and beard trim. There are products for all hair types and beard types now a days, the men's grooming industry is rocking. Currently as I write this the direction men's hair is trending and the industry is taking it is to a more natural textured look, a more lived in feeling. If you were blessed with a natural wave or curl your time is now! A softer feel, the easability of your lady running her fingers through your hair is a plus. Balms and construction creams will lead the way, replacing the pomades and wet looks of structured hair. With that being said if you are going to rock your natural waves, moisturize those locks. If you want to add life to your curls and avoid frizz, pack moisture and proteins into your hair with a quality shampoo and conditioner. Your hair predominantly consists of over 90% Proteins, Water and natural oils making up the remaining 10%. Depending on your lifestyle skipping a full wash and doing a rinse and condition is a good in between. That goes for you to ladies if you so happen to be reading this for your man, remember your hair is with you 24 hours a day. Everyday washing strips your hair of its natural oils and moisture and if you are using a cheap filler laced $3 shampoo you are compounding the problem. I will be recommending the products I think are all killer and no filler. I am coming on a decade of men's grooming and being behind the chair as well as and educator, I have been able to learn what works and what is just the latest gimmick. Stay tuned for more products and pro tips in Body

Read time: 1 minuteGreetings, Joey here from Valiant Liege. I hope this finds your start to a new year well. If your position isn't' exactly where you want it to be, do not fret. Patience, gratitude and discipline will lead you to a better position in due time. Two words came to mind this morning as i centered myself. Gratitude and Connection, I am grateful and I am connecting. I realized I had been lacking those things, but recently I was presented with an opportunity to spend time doing both and it was enlivening and much needed. May you find gratitude and connection in this present moment.
As I write this I am enjoying a Hot toddy and its warming up my belly, tastes great too. My wife was gifted some teas I steeped one of the flavors, and yes I saved her some I am a sharer. Do We Truly Know What Year It Is?
December 31, 2021Read time: 1 minuteWelcome! Joey here with Valiant Liege. I hope this finds you well and optimistic for another cycle through the seasons. According to the Gregorian calendar it is 2020. Which has been in use since early 1500's when Pope Gregory XIII instituted it as a replacement of the Julian Calendar. The Gregorian Calendar is the most popular calendar and used by most Western Countries. You have many other calendars currently in use today for example the Assyrian who's year is currently 6770, the Hebrew 5781, Chinese 4718, Islamic 1442, just to name a few. Anyhow regardless of the year one thing I take with me into this next cycle is gratitude, optimism and a positive outlook for each new day. Every day is a new day full of discover and learning about your self and what is around you. I am learning to be teachable in every situation and along with that a willingness for change. Without the willingness to change I know I wont and am not teachable.
Today and the rest of this week I look forward to enjoy this time with family and sharing the simple things in life. I hope you out there can do the same, I send my warmest greeting to anyone that reads this. Cheers!

The Evils Of Self Pity
December 24, 2020Read time: 2 minutesWelcome Joey here with Valiant Liege. I get a little personal today and discuss the evils of self pity and how I put the kibosh on it when it tries to slither into my thoughts and mindset. Through gratitude and self discipline I have been able to strike down those evils. We all face it at some time or another, but it is up to the individual as to how they deal or interact with those evils. Will you succumb to the self pity and woe is me or will you over come and slay those those thoughts like the rabbid beasts that they are? I chose to slay and overcome them.
As Epicurus so splendidly put it "Will the universe be upset if you die?"
To me the answer is clearly no.
This is an entry from today that I wrote in my journal. Based on the saying of Epictetus.
To have fire/fever in the right way is to govern your own principles and let the external matter be their own. Do not blame God or man, do not be overwhelmed buy what happens to you, await death bravely and in the right way, to do what is enjoined upon you. That is what this journey is all about. No better words could have been spoken and they called out to me to be heard, written and placed into my spirit. Which will one day will return to the spirit just as the dust will return to the dust.
Have a great end to your week.

Age of Aquarius or Just Another Manic Monday
December 21, 2021Read time: 2 minutesWelcome, Joey here from Valiant Liege it's Monday 12/21/20. The Saturn Jupiter Conjunction has come, and I'm still here again.. Reminds me of Y2K, 2012 and every other great eclipse that has occurred recently that has people in anxiety awaiting something big to happen. Let the heathen rage at the signs of the sky, but be not dismayed at the signs. If I remember I'll probably head outside and see if I can catch a glimpse. All in all knowing tomorrow will still be Tuesday. My recording cut off, I did not get raptured away in an enchanted sky machine. It did however help keep this video short and concise. I'll save my tangents for BranchLife youtube channel.
I really did consider making my thumbnail as the Bengals manic Monday album cover for irony's sake. I decided to listen to that song and it sounded to me as if from another space and time. A time of youthful exuberance with a hope and hint of naiveite far removed from what we have today. The recording sounded almost slightly distorted at times like the bpm was slightly off. I put a link for ya if you care to listen, 1 time was enough for me.

Ruthless Elimination
Of Hurry
December 14, 2020Read time: 2 minutesWelcome, Joey here with Valiant Liege. If life has taught me anything is that persistence pays off! My whole life no matter what I have been persistent when wanting to attain something, it's an inner drive that moves me. It's almost as if I create that thing in my mind and somehow some way it eventually comes to fruition. Today I was persistent in a smaller way, when it came to trying to upload this video. Every last time saying if it doesn't load I'll just scrap this video, but finally after about the 10 time it loaded. With that being said I can present you this video, which I filmed this morning. There are no script to these as there is no script to life. So once I hit delete on these videos, the words I speak are but vapor in the wind.
Today I discuss my weekly schedule, new incorporations and removals from it. Also today is Monday not Tuesday as I spoke in the video. To me it's like a Tuesday since I start my weeks on Sunday. Sunday being the first day and Saturday the last, not a western style of practice. Here we are accustomed to Monday being the first and Sunday the last. I also recommend a book by John Mark Comer "The Ruthless elimination of Hurry. I really enjoyed the message and the experience being shared by the author. The read is fresh and the new concept writing style makes it easy to read through. Funny story my wife knew his parents and had met him as children. I had no clue it only came up once I began reading the book, and she saw the name of the author. Lastly I challenged the watchers of this video to do something out of their comfort zone and get creative. Have a great week. Saints Are Made For Battle!

Exerpt from the book:
“I have trained in the way of strategy since my youth, and at the age of thirteen I fought a duel for the first time. My opponent was called Arima Kihei, a sword adept of the Shinto ryū, and I defeated him. At the age of sixteen I defeated a powerful adept by the name of Akiyama, who came from Tajima Province. At the age of twenty-one I went up to Kyōtō and fought duels with several adepts of the sword from famous schools, but I never lost.”
I also recently watched the documentary "Judd Reid 100 Man Fight" It was very inspirational to see what the power of an indominable spirit can do. It's about an hour, the audio goes out at times, but still worth the watch. Below is the link. Much respect to Judd Reid and his unbreakable determination.

New Paths Discovered and Doing What's Hardest
December 1 2020Read time: 1 minuteWelcome! Joey here from Valiant Liege, December 1 2020. I give you a glimpse into a new path I found along my trail. It's location found on the opposite side of were I normally walk and trek through. A new fiefdom of trees I look forward to exploring. I discover a make shift balance beam provided by nature and have a bit of fun. I'm about to wrap up the discourses of Epictetus which I have been doing audibly while I trek. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some sound and insightful wisdom.

Discourses In the Woods
November 25, 2020Read time: 1 minuteWelcome my name is Joey and I'll be your Pathfinder. Follow me through this quick introduction into the Discourses of Epictetus as I take a walk amongst nature. I hope you enjoy this quick listen as I give you a peak into my treks. There is a oneness that comes with spending time in nature, just as the trees are so are we created. You see the cycle of life among the trees, little saplings growing, and gnarled withered dead trees return to the dirt. The cycle continues, it makes me grateful to recognize that.

Epictetus and Creativity
November 23, 2020Read time: 1 minuteJoey here from Valiant Liege checking in on this Monday morning. Today I discuss the importance of being creative. Using ones god given abilities to write, draw, paint, write music. It helps us grow our spirit and become closer with our true nature. As a living being I create, only the lost consume. This week I delve into the Discourses of Epictetus a Stoic philosopher. They are series of informal lectures written down by his pupil Arrian around 108 AD.
I hope you enjoy and have a great start to your week.
